Spring Into Confidence: My April Glow-Up Plan (With ASL Beauty Tips)

Hey sunshine, are you ready for your April glow-up?

Spring is officially here—and that means it’s the perfect time to reset, refresh, and show up as your most confident self. I’m not talking about a total life overhaul. Just small, doable changes that build up over time and help you feel good from the inside out.

This April, I’m focusing on four core areas:

  • Building healthy habits (that actually stick)
  • Creating a simple beauty routine with ASL flair
  • Staying consistent without burning out
  • Showing up for myself and the Deaf community

And guess what? I put together a free printable toolkit to help you do the same. It includes:
✅ A habit tracker to stay on track
✅ Weekly check-in prompts
✅ ASL beauty signs cheat sheet (with room for notes!)

Let’s make this your most confident spring yet. 🌸

Why a Glow-Up Plan (and Why Now)?

Winter can drain your energy. The shorter days, the cold weather, the layers of stress… it adds up. By the time April rolls around, many of us are running on low.

A glow-up plan is your way of saying:

I’m choosing myself. I’m creating a routine that works for me—my energy, my identity, my goals.

You don’t need to fix anything about yourself. This plan is about support, not shame.

You deserve habits that uplift you. Beauty that reflects you. And routines that honor your Deaf identity without compromise.

My April Glow-Up Goals (You Can Steal These)

Here’s what I’m focusing on this month—and how you can do it, too.

1. Wake Up With Purpose (Without the Guilt Trip)

Forget 5 a.m. bootcamp energy. My goal is simple:
Start my day with a 5-minute “check-in” ritual.

It includes:

  • Stretching (ASL “stretch” = both hands in fists, arms overhead, lean side to side)
  • Drinking water before coffee
  • Signing three intentions (Ex: PEACE, ENERGY, CLARITY)

Tip: Choose signs that feel like your goals. Use movement to anchor your mindset.

2. Beauty Routine, but Make It Deaf-Friendly

As a Deaf woman, beauty isn’t just about products—it’s about expression. That’s why I love incorporating ASL into my routine.

Here’s what I’m doing this April:

StepProductASL Tip
CleanseGel cleanserPractice “CLEAN” in the mirror
MoisturizeSPF + moisturizerSign “LOVE” to yourself while applying
LipTinted balmTry “SMILE” in ASL—it instantly lifts your energy

🎥 I also created a quick ASL beauty signs mini-guide (with video links)—included in the toolkit!

3. Keep Habits Small + Track Progress Visually

If you’re anything like me, you’ve tried 17 new habits in one week and stuck with… maybe one?

Here’s what works better:

  • Start with 3 mini habits
  • Track them visually (paper > apps for most people)
  • Celebrate wins weekly (not daily)

My April habits:

  • Stretch every morning
  • Drink 3 full water bottles/day
  • Post one ASL story on IG per week

How I track it:
✔️ Printable habit tracker
✔️ Weekly check-ins (I answer: What helped? What was hard?)

4. Avoiding Overwhelm: The 3-3-1 Rule

Overwhelm kills consistency. So I use my 3-3-1 rule every week:

  • 3 priorities for the week
  • 3 daily actions max
  • 1 rest day non-negotiable

Here’s an example:
This week’s priorities:

  • Submit Deaf entrepreneur grant app
  • Film ASL tutorial for YouTube
  • Finish this blog post 😉

My daily actions:

  • 20 min writing
  • 10 min stretch
  • 1 email reply block

This keeps my brain calm, even when life gets chaotic.

💬 Quick Note: Why This Matters for the Deaf Community

When you grow up Deaf, especially in hearing-dominant spaces, you often feel pressure to “catch up” or “work harder” just to be seen. That stress adds up fast.

But routines that center your Deaf identity:

  • Reduce internalized pressure
  • Improve self-esteem
  • Celebrate visual, expressive communication (like ASL!)
  • Create belonging in your own body and life

This glow-up isn’t about appearances. It’s about access. Confidence. Community.

How to Stay Consistent (Even When You’re Over It)

We all hit that mid-month slump. Here’s how I keep going:

1. Make It Visible

Post your habit tracker somewhere you see it daily.
Bathroom mirror? Fridge? Inside your planner?

Visual reminders = consistency magic.

2. Check-In With a Friend (Or Me!)

I do weekly check-ins with a Deaf friend on Zoom. We sign our wins and struggles—quick 15 minutes.
If you don’t have that yet, start with journaling or voice-memo style vlogs.
