How I Use ASL to Manifest My Goals Each Season
Whether it’s September back-to-school energy or that quiet stillness before winter, I’ve found that each season brings its own kind of motivation. But here’s the thing: motivation without intention fades. That’s why I started using American Sign Language (ASL) not just to communicate, but to visualize, embody, and manifest my goals.
And let me tell you—it works.
In this post, I’m breaking down how I use ASL in a simple, repeatable seasonal practice to stay focused and intentional. I’ll also share tips to avoid burnout, stay consistent, and grow in a way that truly supports you and the Deaf community.

Why ASL Is My Secret to Manifesting with Clarity
Manifesting is about clarity + action. And ASL is visual clarity in motion. When I sign my goals out loud (yes, even to myself), I anchor them. I’m not just thinking about them, I’m seeing them. I’m feeling them in my body.
When you use ASL to sign words like:
- FOCUS
- GROW
- CREATE
- FINISH
…you’re literally embodying your intention. It goes deeper than a journal or sticky note.
My Seasonal ASL Goal Ritual (Step-by-Step)
Every 3 months (September, December, March, June), I walk through this exact process. Here’s how you can do it too:
1. Choose 1-3 Core Goals
Keep it simple. What matters most to you this season?
Example:
- Build a self-care routine
- Save $500
- Improve ASL fluency
2. Identify the Anchor Signs
Pick 1 sign for each goal. Something short and powerful.
Examples:
- SELF-CARE
- SAVE
- LEARN
(If you’re new to ASL, use the printable sign graphics in the free toolkit.)
3. Sign It Daily (Morning or Night)
Each day, I sign each of my anchor words out loud. I breathe deeply while I do it. This isn’t a “law of attraction” trick—it’s nervous system regulation + habit reinforcement.
You can sign:
- In the mirror
- In bed before sleep
- During a morning walk
Just 3 minutes a day is enough.
4. Track It Weekly
Each Sunday, I check in with my tracker:
- Did I sign daily?
- Did I take one small action toward my goals?
This keeps things light, no shame. Just progress.

Avoiding Overwhelm: The 3 Rules I Live By
Building new habits can feel like a lot. That’s why I follow three rules to keep it sustainable:
1. One Season, One Focus
It’s tempting to try to fix everything at once. Don’t. Choose one focus area per season:
- Fall = Money
- Winter = Rest
- Spring = Health
- Summer = Creativity
You’ll actually make progress this way.
2. Use Visual Triggers
Put your ASL signs or goal words somewhere you’ll see them:
- Bathroom mirror
- Phone lock screen
- Fridge magnet
Visual reminders = consistency boosters.
3. Make It Social (or Silent)
Whether you sign with friends or just to yourself, both are valid. You don’t need an audience to embody your intention. But if you have someone who signs too? Even better.
How This Practice Supports the Deaf Community
Using ASL to set goals isn’t just about personal growth. It’s about reclaiming space for Deaf culture in everyday life.
When we prioritize:
- Signing in public
- Using ASL as a daily tool, not just a translation
- Sharing resources (like this toolkit)
…we create a ripple effect.
ASL isn’t only functional—it’s expressive, beautiful, powerful. It deserves to be part of self-growth conversations just as much as vision boards or morning routines.
And when hearing allies use this practice respectfully, it raises awareness and makes ASL feel less “other.”
