Fall Bucket List: Deaf Girl Edition (With ASL Moments!)
The air is crisp, the leaves are golden, and yes—pumpkin everything is officially back. But let’s be real: fall can also feel like a whirlwind. Between midterms, work, family stuff, and trying to stay healthy (mentally and physically), it’s easy to blink and realize you didn’t do anything for you.
This season, I wanted to be intentional—not just reactive. So I created this Deaf Girl Fall Bucket List with little rituals, cozy vibes, and accessible ASL moments to make every leaf-crunching day count. Whether you’re Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or just looking for a more mindful way to enjoy autumn, this list was made with you in mind.

🍂 Why a Fall Bucket List? (Especially for Deaf Girls)
I used to think bucket lists were just for summer adventures or big life goals. But creating seasonal lists helped me slow down and find joy in small, repeatable moments—like drinking tea on my porch or practicing ASL affirmations under moonlight. As a Deaf woman, I realized I often had to create my own experiences instead of waiting for “accessible” ones to come along.
This fall list is:
- Low-cost or totally free
- Doable for introverts and extroverts
- Flexible and not overwhelming (you don’t need to do everything—pick what lights you up)
- Built with Deaf culture and visual communication in mind
✅ The Life of Donna’s Fall Bucket List (Deaf Girl Edition)
Here’s my go-to list, organized by mood so you can match it with your energy each week:
🔥 When You’re Feeling Cozy & Grounded
- Make a warm drink and fingerspell the ingredients in ASL
- Host a movie night with open captions and fall snacks (think caramel popcorn + hot cider)
- Decorate your space with fall colors and add signs like “Autumn,” “Grateful,” and “Change” in ASL using printables or chalkboard art
- Try a “Silent Sunday” with no voice, just gestures, writing, or full ASL—great for hearing friends, too!
- Wrap yourself in a fuzzy blanket and journal 3 things you’re letting go of this season
🎃 When You’re Feeling Playful & Creative
- Make a Deaf-friendly Halloween costume! (Think: ASL-themed, light-up signs, clear masks if needed)
- Paint tiny pumpkins with your ASL name sign
- Learn and teach a fall poem or affirmation in ASL (film it for TikTok or Threads!)
- Take fall selfies spelling “F-A-L-L” or “B-L-E-S-S-E-D” in ASL by your favorite tree
- Join a virtual or in-person Deaf game night with charades, trivia, or bingo
🍁 When You’re Feeling Adventurous & Bold
- Visit an apple orchard or pumpkin patch—and sign key words as you go (bring a buddy and teach them!)
- Go on a scenic hike or brisk walk and do an ASL gratitude walk (sign 3 things you’re thankful for with each mile)
- Try a Deaf-led yoga or Zumba class with autumn-themed playlists
- Attend a Deaf community event (even just once!)
- Do something brave—send the email, apply for the job, speak up (then reward yourself with apple cider)
✨ ASL Moments to Add to Your Day
Let’s make signing part of the ritual, not just a tool.
Try these:
| ASL Word | Moment to Use It |
|---|---|
| “Thankful” | After journaling or meditating |
| “Pumpkin” | When sipping lattes or carving |
| “Cozy” | During a self-care bath night |
| “Change” | While watching leaves fall or setting goals |
| “Home” | Every time you clean or decorate your space |
💡 Pro tip: Pair these signs with a sensory action—like lighting a candle, drinking tea, or stretching—to anchor the moment in your body and mind.

🧠 How to Stay Consistent Without Burning Out
It’s easy to start strong and then ghost your own plans by mid-October. I know because… I’ve done it more times than I can count. The trick? Don’t go all or nothing. Here’s how I stay grounded:
1. Pick 1–3 goals a week
Don’t pressure yourself to do the whole list at once. Each Sunday, choose 1 to 3 items based on how you’re feeling.
2. Use the Fall Tracker
Check off what you complete, or rate how it felt. Bonus: this helps you see your progress visually (a big motivator for us visual thinkers 👀).
3. Anchor your bucket list to routines
Tie your activities to what’s already happening:
- Tea time = ASL journaling moment
- Friday nights = cozy movie + fingerspelling snacks
- Sunday mornings = silent stretch or cleaning with fall playlist
4. Make it social—but Deaf-friendly
Share your progress with other Deaf creators, or create a mini challenge with friends. If hearing folks are involved, ask them to use ASL or visual cues—empower them to meet you where you are.
🤟 How This Supports the Deaf Community
This bucket list isn’t just cute and fun (though it totally is). It also:
- Centers Deaf joy in a world that often sidelines it
- Normalizes ASL in everyday seasonal routines
- Invites the hearing community to engage in our way, through signs, visuals, and mindful slowness
- Celebrates accessibility without needing to explain or apologize
Every time you choose to be intentional with your rituals—and invite ASL into the space—you model what a Deaf-friendly world can look like. That’s power.
💌 After You Download the Toolkit…
You’ll get a short email series with even more cozy goodies:

🍂 Your Fall, Your Flow
You don’t need to “do it all” to feel grounded or festive this season.
If you:
- Take a deep breath with a pumpkin candle lit
- Sign “thank you” after a walk
- Or just choose yourself and rest…
You’re already living the Deaf Girl Fall Dream.
